Since its establishment in 1995, the NGO Management Development Centre (NGOMDC) has played a pivotal role in strengthening the institutional and management capacities of NGOs throughout Sri Lanka. Over the years, we have been dedicated to equipping organizations with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to operate efficiently, transparently, and sustainably. Training & Capacity Building
At NGOMDC, training and capacity building form the backbone of our work in the development sector. We design and deliver comprehensive, context-specific programs that cover areas such as leadership, organizational management, project planning, financial management, governance, social mobilization, and community engagement. Our trainings combine theoretical knowledge, practical exercises, and real-world applications, ensuring participants can immediately apply their learning in their organizations. Documentation & Information Service
Serving as a central knowledge hub, NGOMDC provides NGOs with access to a wide range of training manuals, research reports, guidelines, and best practice documents. We document lessons learned from development projects, case studies, and innovative approaches to empower organizations with the information needed to replicate successes and avoid pitfalls. By maintaining a rich repository of knowledge, we not only strengthen organizational memory but also enable NGOs to make data-driven decisions and continuously improve their operational practices.

Training of Institutional and Management Capacity Building
We provide extensive training programs aimed at improving the managerial and operational skills of NGO staff, volunteers, and leaders. These trainings cover leadership, office management, project planning, strategic development, financial management, governance, and community mobilization. By strengthening organizational capacity, we enable NGOs to deliver their services more effectively, manage resources efficiently, and respond dynamically to community needs.

Collaborating with global and local organizations to strengthen development impact
Over the years, NGOMDC has built a strong track record of collaboration with local, national, and international organizations, enabling us to bring best practices, technical expertise, and innovative approaches to the NGO sector in Sri Lanka. We have partnered with renowned organizations such as UNDP, Oxfam, the European Union, Swiss Contact, ZOA, Diakonia, Helvetas, World Vision, the Kingdom of Netherlands, and AJWS, among others, to design and implement high-impact training programs, capacity-building initiatives, research studies, and consultancy services. These collaborations have allowed NGOMDC to leverage global knowledge while addressing local development needs, ensuring that NGOs are equipped to provide effective, efficient, and sustainable services to communities. By working closely with both international donors and local stakeholders, we have strengthened organizational capacities across 19 district consortia, nurtured leadership skills, enhanced governance, and facilitated networking opportunities that foster collaboration, innovation, and long-term development outcomes.
