Building strong partnerships and networks to strengthen the NGO sector
Since its establishment, NGOMDC has worked extensively to expand the reach and impact of the NGO sector across Sri Lanka. Through strategic partnerships with 19 District Consortia, we ensure that our training, capacity-building, and consultancy services are accessible to NGOs, community organizations, and grassroots stakeholders in every region. By fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and coordinated action, NGOMDC enables organizations to operate more effectively, deliver high-quality services, and respond efficiently to local development needs. Our approach emphasizes inclusive participation, multi-stakeholder engagement, and equitable resource distribution, ensuring that communities from urban, rural, and plantation areas benefit from enhanced development opportunities.
Districts We Serve
Reaching communities in every corner of Sri Lanka
NGOMDC’s operations span 19 districts across Sri Lanka, ensuring that our capacity-building, training, and development programs reach organizations and communities in both urban and rural areas. By collaborating closely with local district consortia, we are able to understand and address region-specific challenges while promoting inclusive development practices. The districts covered include Monaragala, Hambantota, Ratnapura, Kalutara, Galle, Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Matara, Vavuniya, Gampaha, Puttalam, Polonnaruwa, Nuwara Eliya, Kurunegala, Kegalle, Mullaitivu, Batticaloa, and Ampara, among others. Through strategic mapping and a strong local presence, NGOMDC ensures that its interventions are targeted, effective, and responsive to the unique needs of each community, enabling NGOs and grassroots organizations to thrive across the country.

NGOMDC works with a wide range of stakeholders across the NGO sector and local communities, ensuring that training, capacity-building, and development initiatives are inclusive, participatory, and impactful. By focusing on key target groups, we tailor our programs to meet the unique needs of each segment, promoting sustainable growth, skill development, and social empowerment.
1. NGOs & Development Organizations
We collaborate with local and national NGOs, community-based organizations, and development agencies to enhance their institutional capacity, governance, and operational efficiency. Our programs provide the tools, knowledge, and strategic support needed to improve project planning, financial management, and service delivery, ensuring that organizations can effectively serve their communities and achieve long-term sustainability.
2. Youth
NGOMDC places strong emphasis on youth development, empowering young people to take active roles in community leadership, social initiatives, and entrepreneurial ventures. Through participatory programs, skills training, and mentorship, we equip youth with the confidence, knowledge, and networks to contribute meaningfully to local development and drive positive change within their communities.
3. Women
Our initiatives targeting women and women-led organizations focus on empowerment, leadership, economic independence, and community engagement. By providing training in management, entrepreneurship, social mobilization, and advocacy, NGOMDC helps women enhance their decision-making abilities, access opportunities, and become influential contributors to development processes at both local and national levels.
4. Plantation Sector Communities
We engage with communities in the plantation sector, providing training and capacity-building programs tailored to their social, economic, and environmental needs. Our interventions support livelihood enhancement, education, youth development, and community mobilization, helping plantation communities achieve sustainable development and improved quality of life.
5. Grassroots Communities
NGOMDC works closely with vulnerable and marginalized grassroots communities, ensuring that even the most remote populations have access to training, information, and support services. By strengthening community structures, promoting social cohesion, and developing local capacities, our programs empower communities to address challenges proactively, engage in participatory governance, and improve their overall socio-economic conditions.
